Venice is a city built on water that's slowly sinking but doesn't appear to mind. The architecture is Gothic and Byzantine. The canals are ubiquitous. The light bounces off water in ways that make photographers weep. The city is entirely pedestrian. The reality is almost as magical as the myth.
Weddings happen year-round, with May, June, September, and October ideal. The city is entirely urban and entirely water-based. Couples arrive by gondola, marry in churches or registrars, dine in hotels or restaurants. The restaurants are excellent. The nightlife is quieter than mainland cities. Everything costs substantially more than mainland Italy.
