Tenerife is an island dominated by Mount Teide, a volcano that rises 3,718 metres above sea level and can apparently be seen from Madrid on clear days (the claim is disputed but the mountain is undeniably massive). The island sprawls from tropical beaches to pine forests to lunar landscape above the clouds.
Weddings favour year-round warmth, so May and June or September and October avoid both the winter rain and the summer inferno. The beaches are volcanic and unusual. The mountain villages offer cool alternatives. The restaurants are excellent and range from casual to high-end. The light is consistent and golden. The trade winds make even hot days bearable. The island is large enough to have proper landscape but small enough to explore in a long day.
