The destination

Rome is the city where most people lose the ability to speak coherently about architecture, because the buildings are so good that regular adjectives fail. The Colosseum, the Vatican, the Forum—the history is compressed so densely that every corner has three stories. The light bounces off ochre stone in golden tones. The city requires wearing comfortable shoes.

Weddings happen year-round, with May and September ideal. The city is entirely urban—no gardens, no countryside. Couples marry in churches, registrars, hotels, galleries. The restaurants are world-class. The nightlife is serious. Everything costs substantially more than it should due to tourism.
